Nano & Micro Indentation and Scratch Tester - APEX

CETR’s signature nano-mechanical test instrument platform—Apex, comes with 6 easily interchangeable mechanical heads, high magnification microscope and imaging modules (AFM, 3d profiler). It takes less than 2 minutes to interchange these heads i.e a nanoscratch tester can become a nanoindenter or a microscratch tester in 2 minutes and vice versa.

1. Nanoindenter head
2. Nano Scratch head
3. Microindenter head
4. Micro Scratch head
5. Macro Scratch head
6. Nano/Micro Tribology head

The platform comes with anti-vibration table, acoustic and thermal enclosure for ensuring environmental stability. Click below to get information on all 5 heads.

Nano Indenter Head
(up to 500 mN)

Nano indenter head is used to measure hardness, Young’s modulus of thin, ultra thin coatings and bulk materials. Samples should be optically smooth for reliable data.

Micro Indenter Head
(up to 20 N)

Instrumented micro indenter head is used to measure hardness, Young’s modulus of thick and thin coatings and bulk materials.

Nano Scratch Head
(from µN)

Nano scratch head is typically used for thin and ultra thin coatings of nm thickness. Used for DLC, ALD, solar thin films, ITO, optical coatings etc.

Micro Scratch Head
(1 to 20 N)

Micro scratch head is typically used for coatings of micron scale thickness. Used for  PVD, CVD, paint, decorative coatings etc.

Macro Scratch Head
(20 to 200 N)

Macro scratch head is typically used for thick coatings and bulk materials.

Tribology Head
(up to 20 N)

The tribology head is used to measure wear, static and dynamic friction, durability, adhesion, stick slip etc.  Used for thin and thick films/coatings and bulk materials.
